RESURFACING MIDFACE WITH EXPANDED VISOR FLAPS

Abstract
Resurfacing the extensive midface scar is a real surgical challange. Many types of pedicled flaps as well as full thickness skin graft have been applied, but the results were not satisfactory the heavy, terrible scars and poor color matching resulted from the course of the wound healing. For a girl presented postbum scar in the midface, forehead, and upper¢¥ cervical region were expanded with three tissue expanders, and her midface was resurfaced with the expanded tissue by the concept of visor flap.
The upper visor flap covered the midface from the level of lower eyelids to the level of caudal end of nose, and the lower visor flap covered the midface from the level of upper lip to the lower cheek.
The result was acceptable ; good color match, good texture, and minimal scars, especially the seamless face resurfacing on the midline.
